Our Ranch and US
Our introduction to an alpaca was made a couple of years ago when
we saw an ad from AOBA on the satellite television - "I Love Alpacas".
The more research we did about this unique animal, the more we
wanted to know. We made several visits to farms, both large and
small, meeting and talking with the friendliest people and community
we have ever know - the owners of Alpacas. We walked through
pastures with the alpacas, watching them as they watched us. We
were educated on specific things to look for when making a
purchasing decision.
I continued to investigate the alpaca Business as my final project for
my MBA - Marketing degree. The numbers were to good to stop at
just investigating, time now to begin investing.
A great opportunity opened for us in February 2005 after we started
looking for a ranch and which required relocating the family. March
1st, 2005, we became proud owners of a 6 acre ranch situated among
horse farms in Northwestern Illinois, near Rockford, Illinois.
Mystic Ridge Alpaca Ranch began, owned and operated by Jeff & Dolly
Leuenberger. We have both Huacaya and Suri alpacas. Our original herd of 2
Alpacas, quickly grew to a total of eighteen alpacas and five Llamas. We
currently have two wonderful Fleece Champion Herdsires, both Accoyo, who
would be most happy to satisfy your ladies and improve your herd line. Our
first Cria born on the ranch was in May of 2006, followed by our two latest in
the late fall.
Agistment services are also available at our ranch
